On 5 October 2009 a suicide bomber attacked the WFP office in Islamabad, Pakistan. The blast left 5 people dead, many injured and the office in shambles. One of the casualties was our FITTEST team member, Botan Ali from Iraq. He was on mission in Pakistan to support the humanitarian emergency in Peshawar.

I arrived in Pakistan on the 10th June 2009 for a one month mission to provide radio training to WFP staff members employed in and around the Peshawar region. These WFP staff members are delivering much needed humanitarian assistance to the displaced population.

Unfortunately another conflict is gong on in Pakistan….we are full speed with the operation. Every two days Dane, deployed on the ground, is writing about his time in Pakistan and this gives us the opportunity to feel the atmosphere, understand the difficulties and live some of the experiences he and the other colleagues are having during the emergency operation.
